We believe that looking after the environment starts right on our doorstep. That’s why we were proud to roll up our sleeves and take part in the Great Kettering Spring Clean on Saturday 29th March, alongside dozens of amazing volunteers and community groups who came together to help spruce up the town centre.
As a local solar energy company committed to creating a cleaner, greener future, it felt only right that we got involved! Not just as sponsors, but as hands-on volunteers too.
Lifting the Town Up, One Scaffold at a Time
To support the day of action, we sponsored a new piece of artwork on Lower Street, brightening up an area that had become tired and difficult to clean. The vibrant artwork now covers a dirty old shop fascia that had long been an eyesore—bringing colour, positivity, and a touch of creativity to the heart of the town.
To make it happen, we donated 4 hours of team time, provided our tower scaffold, and even used our extendable solar panel cleaning brush to help scrub and freshen up the shopfronts.
Jaime, GENR8 Director, said: “This wasn’t just about cleaning – it was about pride. We’ve powered homes across Kettering with solar, but it was a pleasure to help power a bit of positivity into the town centre too. The artwork looks fantastic, and we’re proud to have helped put it up. A great team effort!”
Bringing the Whole Family to the Litter Pick
We were also out in full force for the community litter pick, joining forces with the brilliant Kettering Wombles, Teddington, and many community groups and other local volunteers. North Northamptonshire Council team members came on the day to collect the 130+ bags of litter that were picked.
Our Home Solar Lead, Andy Slater, brought his wife and young son, Alessio, who (armed with a litter picker almost as big as he was!) made light work of collecting rubbish and brightening up the streets.
Andy said: “It was great to see so many people from all walks of life getting stuck in. My little boy loved being part of it – it’s never too early to teach the next generation the value of community and caring for the planet. We were glad to help in any way we could.”
A Town-Wide Effort
The day was a true community collaboration, with volunteers litter picking, painting, power washing, planting, and more. Groups like the Kettering Wombles, Teddington, and local councillors all played a key role in making the event a success.
We’d also like to thank the Northants Telegraph for covering the story and helping to showcase the brilliant work done across town. You can read their coverage here:
We’re proud to be part of this community—and even prouder to see so many people working together to make it shine. Whether it’s solar panels or street art, we’ll keep finding ways to help build a brighter future for Kettering.

Customer Feedback
From helping us maximise our solar generation within budget to carrying out an incredibly fast installation, Jaime, Emily, and the Genr8 team made the entire process seamless and insightful from start to finish! The solar panels have strengthened our business’s resilience to energy costs, and in just three years, they will be fully paid off, allowing us to generate pure profit from energy exports.
This means we can reinvest those funds back into the business to support our growth.
Beyond the financial benefits, our investment in solar power will significantly reduce our carbon footprint, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable business practices and doing our bit for the environment. We’ll definitely be returning for more panels (or even a battery!) in the future! – Ben Williams, Public Sector Strategy Manager at 7Formation

SYSTEM INSTALLED
200 panels, 88kW solar PV system
We recently had the opportunity to work with 7formation, a Corby-based construction specialist, to deliver a highly efficient 88kW solar panel installation at their headquarters. As a local solar provider, we were thrilled to support a fellow Corby business in making a significant step towards sustainability while also helping them reduce their long-term energy costs.
To maximise efficiency, 7formation decided to carry out essential roof repairs at the same time as the solar installation. By coordinating the project, both our team and the roofing contractors were able to share scaffolding, reducing costs and minimising disruption to the business. A key part of the project’s success was securing funding through the Green Transition Fund, a grant offered by the local council. 7formation won the full £50,000 grant, with £35,000 going towards the solar system and £15,000 allocated for roof works.
Thanks to this funding, the project’s already impressive return on investment became even stronger. The system initially had an already low payback period of 4 years and 7 months, but with the help of the Green Transition Fund, this payback period came down to just 2 years and 4 months. This means 7formation will start seeing significant savings even sooner, making their investment even more worthwhile.
Their annual saving of £11,429 will become profit after this time, and they can reinvest in the business.
The timing of this installation was also strategically important for 7formation. They have recently set up an onsite joinery workshop, significantly increasing their energy consumption. By installing solar now, they are not only covering a substantial portion of their existing electricity needs but also preparing for future growth in demand. To support this long-term vision, we optimised the system by installing larger inverters than currently required, allowing them to expand their solar array in the future without major upgrades.
Additionally, while 7formation chose not to pursue battery storage at this stage, we designed the system to be battery-ready, ensuring that they can easily integrate energy storage later as and when their needs evolve. This future-proofing approach means they will have the flexibility to store excess solar energy and further enhance their energy independence when the time is right.
It has been fantastic to work with a company that recognises the importance of renewable energy, and we are proud to have helped them take a major step towards a more sustainable and resilient future.

Really pleased with the solar panels installed by GENR8. Professional service from start to finish, with clear understandable communication and great attention to detail to minimise cable visibility and neatly label new electricals.
I can't recommend the Genr8 Energy Ltd team enough. Communication was clear and concise from first contact through to commissioning of the system. All work was completed punctually and to a very high standard with work areas kept tidy throughout the job. I would highly recommend Genr8 Energy Ltd.
The guys at GENR8 did a superb job start to finish. Kept me informed all the way through what was happening next. Work areas were always tidy and left clean at the end of the working day. I simply cannot fault their work ethic. If only all tradesmen were this thorough and thoughtful. They also changed some cracked tiles for me which saved me a job and did not charge for the extra work.
Thanks Guys 🙂
